Midwifery of Austin believes that women are leaders in the health of communities and are essential to the well being of families. We believe that every woman deserves access to food, shelter, and a life free from violence. There are several ways that Midwifery of Austin supports women in our community: 1) for every 3 women who pay our pregancy care fees in full, one woman who is unable to access pregancy services is cared for at reduced costs. 2) Midwifery of Austin also waives primary care provider fees for unemployed, uninsured, underinsured, or low income women each October. Everyone deserves access to preventative health care. 3) Midwifery of Austin participates in community drives and fundraisers as time and resources allow. Every holiday season Midwifery of Austin sponsors a family for the holidays through Safe Place and Austin’s Children Shelter. Sustaining life on a limited diet is strenuous on both mother and baby, and malnutrition causes pregnancy complications, low birth weight, and increased risk of both maternal and infant mortality. A woman can receive nourishing food for an entire month for just $60. To learn more and donate visit: In Her Shoes
